WHAT YOU WILL DO

Purpose of this Role:The Associate Attorney provides exceptional legal representation to financial institutions in a wide variety of creditor rights’ matters focused primarily on bankruptcy, replevins, residential foreclosure. The Associate Attorney identifies effective, practical, and innovative solutions to emerging challenges in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Value to the Team: The Associate Attorney will contribute to the legal team by collaborating with team members to share knowledge and expertise, provide guidance and oversight to non-attorney staff to ensure efficiency and compliance with laws, regulations, client contractual requirements, court rules and best practices; collectively solving client problems, and ensuring the quality of legal services provided.

Duties and Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • The role requires a high degree of organizational skills, pro-activity and the ability to collaborate with others in the litigation department. The candidate will operate as a part of a small team of lawyers and paralegals who work closely with national and regional lenders and loan servicers. Knowledge of RESPA, TILA, FDCPA and FHA Regulations is a plus, but not a necessity. 

  • Responsibilities include drafting a variety of time-sensitive motions, pleadings and discovery requests, including responses to discovery requests and depositions. There will be court appearances in Ohio at the State and Federal courts and direct contact with clients and court personnel.

  • The candidate should have a professional attitude with a strong sense of discretion, excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational abilities. Knowledge of the MS Office suite is necessary. Excellent research and writing skills are a must. Travel in Ohio may be required. 

Training and Experience Requirements: The ideal candidate for this position has the following:

  • Attorney Licensed in following state(s): Ohio
  • 2-4 years of experience 

The following attributes are desirable but not required to apply:

  • Multi-state licensure a plus!
  • Bankruptcy experience
  • Federal licensure
  • Knowledge of foreclosure process

Conditions of Work:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to remain focused for extended periods.
  • Ability to work on computers for a significant portion of the day.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements as required for positions (Typing, clicking, swiveling).
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds as needed.
